Have you experimented with Series folders? Those allow you to share Characters and Worldbuilding elements between projects.
Just put the project you want to copy Characters from into a Series folder and create a new project in that folder. The new project will have all of the same Characters and Worldbuilding elements, and you can then move that project out of the Series folder if you’d prefer to sever the syncing connection.
