I’m using excellent for writing. I’ve set up an outline, which it starts following. I’ll give it a couple of sentences for instructions that start it on the path in the outlines. And I’m constantly finding it’ll stop half way through a sentence that’s only half way through the instructions I gave it, never mind at the end of the outline. The ability to have 1000 or 2500 or even 5000 word cards would be great. For my money, I’d like it if each invocation spat out a complete scene, needing a couple of invocations to cover the outline for the chapter.

I wouldn’t mind at least 1000 words. But here’s an honest truth. I use Write/Guided Write extensively because I’m the author and I like to keep control of where the narrative flows. Anything longer in Write cards starts to drift hard into ‘Draft’ territory where the AI takes over entirely. And that just defeats absolutely defeats the purpose of Write/Guided Write imo.

What guidance are you giving it? I’m running with world bible, characters, chapter outline, style, genre and instructions for the write invocation on which part of the outline it’s meant to cover, with a bit more detail. I know where the story should go, I just need to get it there without continually have to work out how to rephrase ‘continue’.

1,500-2,000 is the sweet spot for me. Combine this with the bigger (even if just slightly bigger) guided write box, and it will be so easy and magical for those of us who like to write thick beats.
